The Upper Yoder Volunteer Fire Company is an approved HSI TrainingCenter. HSI’s emergency care training programs are currently in use by, and accepted, approved, or recognized as meeting the requirements of thousands of employers, state regulatory agencies, occupational licensing boards, professional associations,

commissions, and councils in hundreds of occupations and professions. All HSI courses conform with the 2020 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines and Updates for CPR and ECC and the annual update Guidelines Update. This means that the HSI emergency care courses meet and exceed the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross Guidelines for CPR and First Aid. A list of the courses we offer is below. Please reach out for a price since many courses have different options and have different prices.

Our Organization also provides, at no cost, training on Stop the Bleed, and Hand Only CPR.

Basic  Life Support

The purpose of the BLS training program is for the participant to gain or or improve knowledge

and skill proficiency in high quality CPR skills and teamwork for the adult, child, and infant.

This courses is intended for:

  • Healthcare providers (in and out of hospital)

  • Public safety professionals in a variety of occupational settings

  • Individuals enrolled in healthcare and public safety career training programs.

 

Offered as a tradition classroom course or blended learning program.

Completion of the course will be given a 2 year course certification

CPR - AED

Designed for individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers who desire, or are occupationally required, to be trained and certified in CPR AED.

This curriculum is offered as:

  • Adult, Adult/Child, Adult/Infant, and Adult/Child/Infant

Offered as a tradition classroom course or blended learning program.

Completion of the course will be given a 2 year course certification.

First Aid and CPR AED

Designed for individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers who desire, or are occupationally required, to be trained and certified in adult First Aid and or CPR AED for the adult, child, or infant. When this course is blended with BLS Provider is meets the requirement for the PA Fire Academy.

  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest

  • CPR and Defibrillation

  • Chain of Survival

  • Assessment and Compressions

  • Rescue Breathing and Using a CPR Mask

  • Using an AED

  • Opioid- Associated Emergency

  • Relief of Choking

  • First Aid Assessment

  • Taking Precautions

  • Activating EMS and/or EAP

Adult First Aid 

Designed for individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers who desire, or are occupationally required, to be trained and certified in First Aid. Topics include:

  • Responding to external and internal bleeding

  • Direct manual pressure and bandaging

  • Using a tourniquet

  • Shock

  • Common Injuries

  • Concussion

  • Burns

  • Poisoning

  • Opioid-Associated Emergency

  • Difficulty breathy and Asthma

  • Severe allergic reaction (Anaphylaxis)

  • Heart attack, stroke, and seizure

  • Diabetes and hypoglycemia

  • Heat and cold emergencies

  • Bites and stings

Child and Babysitting Safety

The HSI Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. HSI CABS teaches how to start a babysitting business, interact with parents and children, and provides important safety and first aid information using the latest 2020 guidelines.
